All this wonderful creating and sharing spirit

Hooks have been hooky-hooking
Knitting pins have been flying back and forth
The kettle has been keeping us going.
And
The postman is going to be busy!!

Not only have we been busy with the making
and the sewing
and crocheting
and the knitting
we've also been winding HUGE balls of yarn
into
smaller ones
so that we can all share the blankie-making-action
what fun!

All ages were roped in to wind and untangle

Phew !
I think I need a nap to recover :)

thank you
Angela, Marta, Gillian, Lynne, Ann, Carol, Jennifer
and the mighty Tash!

Off to the post office

This morning when I opened by inbox,  I found an email from Japan Alive saying this..........

I think it would be best to have blankets for children and babies. That way it would be easier and quicker to make (as summer will be here in the next few months)- and very much appreciated as the adults here always want the children to be served first.

So, today I shall start sewing all our beautiful squares into little blankets, pictures to follow.

A little later I met up with Jak - a regular contributor to both my other blog and to the blankie pile and she presented these to me..........

Seven wonderfully soft and crochet baby blankets! So snugglerly and warm and ready to be posted off :)

Ooh thank you so much Jak!

Then another look at my inbox and see an email from Esther saying :

Hello,
I just came from the post office and there are granny squares from The Netherlands coming your way!

I've blogged about them here and promoted yor wonderful initiative:
http://happyinred.blogspot.com/2011/04/granny-squares-for-japan.html

You can use the pictures of the squares if you like.

I hope they'll reach you soon and I can't wait to see the blankets that will no doubt will be in good hands with the people of Japan.

Good luck and once again, thank you so much for organising this.

Kind regards,
Esther

Don't be a square!

Guess what I found yesterday afternoon when I returned from work -

A rather fat looking envelope on the mat filled with...........

A delicious pile of squares!

Thank you Penny!

And she has promised us some more - how very generous :)

Then last night, at knit and natter, Lovely Lady sat and nattered and crocheted these to add to the growing collection, as well as bringing some yummy buns - thank you :)

Jak brought along the first of our knitted squares as well as learning to crochet her first granny! Fired up, she now is off to make lots more for us :)

My pile of squares is growing slowly - but it's getting there!

Then, when I opened my mail I see we have some more lovely lovely contributors joining in and Andrea has her squares ready- so we are going to meet up next week  - this is getting exciting :) I get to meet a bloggy friend and add to the blankie collection.

And final bit of happy square news - Josie has just emailed me and said in a day or two she will be posting these beauties

Thank you ladies, you have done wonders in such a short time!

Have yourselves a lovely sunshiny weekend :)
