I have had word from Japan that the ladies who survived the tsunami have now made their own knit and natter groups and are producing sufficient blankets for themselves and to send to areas that still require aid. So, for now, our 'mission' to make and send blankets has stopped.
Thank you all who have joined in - those who made squares, those who crocheted and knitted, those of you who sewed together and turned piles of squares into comforting blankets.
Thank you for the blankets that arrived weekly, the toys that were made, the scarves and hats.
Thank you to those who helped with postage, who donated wool and yarn, thank you to those of you who helped host the Yarnival event we held to raise funds for postage ......
To all of you, each and every one of you
thank you xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Please thank yourself too. You were the one who organised all of us and offered advice and encouragement when it was needed. I shall miss helping with this worthy cause but I am so pleased our efforts have empowered the ladies in Japan to become self-reliant. I think that is a very important outcome of our efforts.
ReplyDeleteThank you kate, it wouldn't have happened without you.
