Kyōyū kyōyū - share

Just over a week ago, I, like most of the world watched in horror as the events in Japan unfolded. The devastation was beyond belief and seems to be increasing on a daily basis.  So many lives have been lost, homes destroyed and belongings gone. There has been so much sadness and grief. Through all this I have been amazed at the Japanese stoic determination to carry on.

I want to share some warmth and love with those who have suffered so much as they try to come to terms with the earthquake and tsunami.

With that in mind, I am going to make blankets and am asking for help in making crochet and knitted squares. If you would like to join in please contact me through the email on my profile with  'Kyōyū kyōyū - share' in the subject line. Let me know your name or alias, a link to your blog and your country. When you have emailed me, I will let you know where to post your squares.

I will keep you up to date with progress with the blankets and list everyone who is involved.

If you can join in and help make the squares the dimensions are:

Crochet - Granny squares = 5 rows
Knitting = 15cm x 15cm or 6" x 6"
They can be made in acrylics or wool and the only restriction  being please limit the use of pink or white - (see FAQ)
Just send as many or as few squares as you can and I will sew them together before sending them off.
